Last weekend, I had the awesome opportunity to attend the Catholic Women Bloggers Network // Midwest Conference 2017. Needless to say, it was incredible!
The beautiful mansion where the conference was hosted… holla
I was able to spend time and get to know many awesome women who are writers, makers, creators and, most importantly, beautiful women of the Lord.
My two biggest takeaways from the conference:
- God has made each and every individual unique & equipped with the talents and skills that help bring glory to Him. At the end of the day, this blog and this writing that I do isn’t about me. It’s about Him. It’s about pointing to Him in all that I do and (hopefully!) paving a path that leads only to Him and not to myself and my own endeavors. When Nell talked about getting so invested in her blog at one point that she was shoving her kids out of pictures, I realized how deeply that resonated with my own heart: I want my blog and my writing to give glory to my Maker. I don’t want to be THE maker. It’s not my job and, frankly, I can’t do that! I’m nothing without Jesus and I rely on Him to show me the way. Bottom line: my writing needs to glorify Him.
- Lately, I’ve found myself becoming overwhelmed by all the things that I can do, add, & make on my blog that will make it that much better. And, after thinking about it and Googling all the things, I close the computer and think, Nope, not right now. And, guess what? That’s okay. Right now, I’m not called to do all the things on my blog and to have it all together and ready to go. I have other priorities and other things that need my time and attention right now. There’s a reason that I dabble on this blog and I’ve held onto it and I’m still figuring out where it’s leading me. And, that’s okay. I don’t need to have everything in order. I don’t need to have everything perfected and a million and one sponsorships. In fact, I don’t really have the time or interest to manage that right now. I’m happy as a clam (for now) just writing what’s on my heart and what I want to share that I think is valuable or helpful. My prayer is that whatever this passion is and what’s on my heart continues to blossom and grow and that the Lord will guide me to exactly where He wants me to be. He’s got the plans and I’m praying for an open heart to listen and act as He sees fit.
A heart of gratitude
